DHS' varsity softball team.
So far, girls’ spring sports have been going great! With spring sports just starting up our girls are doing an outstanding job! Yet, we have some certain honorable wins and highlights that definitely take the cake here!
Recently, Danvers’ Varsity softball started the season off with a winning 9-6 against the Peabody Tanners. After the mid-game tie 5-5, the Falcons managed to pull through and put another four runs on the board. These extra four runs made the score a 9-6 win for the Danvers Falcons. The standout moment of the game belongs to junior Addi McCarthy who hit an outstanding home run. Another honorable mention goes to Kyla Moroney who scored three times, as well as hitting a triple to the outfield. Freshman Gianna Cash, had her first hit on Varsity as well.
Girls varsity tennis has also had a previous win; on April 2nd Danvers beat Bishop Fenwick 4-1. Danvers had two single wins from Madison Savage (6-4, 6-1), and Sophie Sanidas (6-2, 6-3). The two doubles teams also had wins from Raina Langlais and Ava Nadeau (6-2, 6-1), as well as Paige Sherman and Cali Coffin (6-2, 6-0). All contributing to the final score of 4-1. Danvers girls tennis also had a win on the 9th, a 4-1 win against Beverly and a 5-0 win against Peabody on the 10th.
On Monday the 7th, the Danvers varsity girls’ lacrosse team pulled out a win against Winthrop 16-5. The team had some amazing highlights, including freshman Hannah Tersolo, who made her first goal on varsity. Savannah Botthof made five goals throughout the game and assisted two other goals. Sophomores Olivia Henry and Sienna Goldberg also both each made three goals during the game.
In other DHS girls’ sports news, two of our star girls basketball players, Junior Angie Djoko and Sophomore Annabel Boyd made the Salem news! Salem news considered them as Danvers Girls Basketball All Stars. This is great news for DHS girls sports and we hope to see more girls and boys athletes take on this title.
