The Danvers High School track and field team faced off against Marblehead and Swampscott in a meet on Tuesday afternoon.
Led by junior Zach Cotter who has the most points on the team (53) followed by Luca Tirella (35.25), the Falcons sored past each of their opponents on Tuesday, beating Marblehead 72-64 and also beating Swampscott by an even larger margin, 81-55. This moved the Falcons to an astonishing 4-0 on the season.
The Falcons hope to pick up their 5th win of the season this week, heading to Saugus High School to take on the Masconomet Chieftains.
When we interviewed Cotter about how he felt going into the meet against Marblehead and Swampscott, he said he felt “good and confident”. Cotter competed in the triple jump, 400 hurdles, 110 hurdles and high jump, but said that he was proud of 110 hurdles (where he accomplished a personal record by a second). Cotter is currently leading the team in points, stating “it feels good to be at the top” and that “(he is) working very hard and preparing for the next meet”.
