Late last month, Impractical Jokers stars Joe Gatto and James Murray faced unexpected allegations relating to sexual misconduct.
These allegations began on March 20th when a Tik Tok user posted a video claiming Gatto had sexually assaulted her back in 2023, when she was only 19.
The woman alleged she met Gatto at one of his comedy shows in Milwaukee, and they began to send messages back and forth on Instagram. She explained that Joe then turned on vanish mode for the Instagram DM’S, and it escalated into Gatto inviting her to his hotel room, where the alleged sexual assault took place.
Gatto responded to the claims in denial, stating “I have used poor judgment and as a result have violated the trust of the people I love most, but anyone who knows me at all knows full well that I wouldn’t assault anyone.”
Following his statement, another alleged victim came forward, claiming Gatto had sexually harassed her while she was working on Impractical Jokers as an 18 years old.
Subsequent to this, a woman came forward with similar allegations regarding Gatto’s co-star James Murray. On March 25th, the woman (again on the platform of Tik Tok) shared screenshots, detailing inappropriate messages between the two, dating back to 2012. She claims at the time of the messages she was only 16 while Murray was 35.
The woman reports that texts between the two included explicit topics, escalating to Murray saying that he loved her. The woman also shared that the two of them met in person on multiple occasions, once including Murray supplying the minor and some of her underage friends with alcoholic beverages.
As of now Murray is yet to speak out on these accusations. It has yet to be determined whether or not these women, or any potential future accusations will end up in Gatto or Murray facing legal charges.
