After 11 physical and stressful playoff games, the Boston Celtics have ended their 2025 NBA season, and will move on to their post-season work.
After starting strong with four big wins against the Orlando Magic, the Celtics suffered a rocky start against the New York Knicks, dropping down to a 0-2 home game record, following a win and another loss in New York.
During game four of the series, the Celtics were down 2-1 in the entire series, and dealt with another huge loss– the horrible rupture of star Jayson Tatum’s achille tendon.
With this crucial injury, the Celtics lost hope, losing their star player who was averaging nearly 28 points a game, and now suffering nearly nine months of recovery. With hope, other players like Jaylen Brown, Dereck White, and Payton Pritchard stepped up. Their performance helped the Celtics to keep their season alive with their game five win.
Game six was another story for Boston, and ended up with a near 40-point loss, allowing the Knicks to secure a spot in round three, whereas the Celtics were sent home. This was upsetting, as the reigning champs went in favored, but the stunning outcome for the Knicks came as a severe upset for Boston.
During his post-game interview, all-star Jaylen Brown reflected on the loss to the Knicks, explaining his intense feelings of anger, while showing optimism, “Losing to the Knicks feels like death, but I was always taught there is life after death,” he said. “So we’ll get ready for whatever’s next. Whatever’s next in the journey, I’ll be ready for.”
Though the season ended roughly, the Celtics will look to bounce back next year, no matter what that will look like, and no matter who will make up the team.
