Jalen Carter, defensive lineman for the Philadelphia Eagles got ejected from the game recently for an unsportsmanlike penalty.
On Thursday September 4th in the opening game, right before the first play, Jalen Carter went face-to-face with Dallas Cowboys’ player Dak Presscot and spat right in his face.
Immediately after the event, Carter got removed from the field and escorted to the locker room. He is now penalized ten weeks of his season and can return to playing after that.
According to NBC News clips it appears that Prescott first spat at Carter. But in an interview following the event, Prescott explained, “I wouldn’t spit on somebody. I’m definitely not trying to spit on you. We’re about to play a game.” Sources say Prescott wasn’t trying to spit at Carter, just trying to spit on the field and it happened to hit Carter.
After the game Carter apologized and stated,“It was a mistake that happened on my side. It won’t happen again.”
In a similar incident, a few weeks ago, defensive linemen for the Florida Gators, Brendan Brett, got kicked off the field for spitting in his opponent’s face. With only two minutes and seven seconds left in the game, Brett spat on South Florida Bulls player Cole Skinner. Florida coach Billy Napier said during his news conference Monday there would be “some internal discipline” but had not decided whether he would suspend Betts for the game against Louisiana State University on Saturday September 13,2025. Brett then posted “I let down my teammates, coaches, family and all of Gator Nation. Our coaches always instill in us the value of sportsmanship and I crossed the line. I also want to apologize to South Florida. That’s not the person or player I strive to be. I made a terrible mistake and it won’t happen again.” on his instagram.
