The Flying Onion is pleased to return with our “Senior Spotlight” column, highlighting a different senior each edition. Our first and very well deserving senior is Darius Chung.
Darius, being the Salutatorian of the Class of 2025, has clearly made his mark in his academics. He’s dedicated, driven, and puts high quality effort into his work.
Darius is a heavily involved student at DHS. He’s senior class co-vice president, a member of National Honor Society, World Language National Honor Society, National English Honor Society, student council, and is co-president of both DECA and Latin Club. Darius is also a three sport athlete, competing in soccer, swim, and track.
This past summer, he volunteered in Taiwan, teaching English to students while also building a curriculum for learning our language.
At October’s School Committee meeting, he was awarded the MASS Certificate of Academic Excellence, being honored for his commitment and achievement.
Mrs. Russo, who’s writing one of Darius’ letters of recommendation, had nothing but high praise for him. “Darius is incredibly talented and picks [science] up so easily. He’s a great all-around person and works well with anyone that he’s paired with. He doesn’t joke around with his work, but still holds a great sense of humor.”
While we’re still in the middle of the college application process, Darius is planning on majoring in chemical engineering, and is leaning towards attending Northeastern next year.
