Seven candidates are competing for two open seats on the Danvers Select Board.
The Select Board is the chief executive body of the town, responsible for overseeing the problems affecting the residents and businesses.
As claimed by the town’s clerk office, incumbent Daniel Bennett has submitted signatures for re-election. Daniel Bennett has spent 32 years in town government and will be competing to keep his position with six other competitors on the ballot, as well as former select board member Gardner Trask. Trask formerly served six terms on the Select Board but lost his last re-election campaign in 2024.
Other candidates Michael Baxter, Sandy Franceschini, Kevin Berich, Natalie Lara Fiore, and Mark Lentine will be placed on the ballot Thursday. Leaving the select board is David Mills. Mills is in his early 80s, and was an Appeals Court Judge.
At the same time, another election is being held for the school committee. Current School Committee member, Gabe Lopes is facing contestant Maxwell Rudin, a Danvers High alumnus.
The latest Danvers residents can register to vote is April 26th, and the annual town election is Tuesday May 6th, when the polls will be open from 7am to 8pm.
