Last month federal officials in Boston arrested hundreds of people living in the US illegally during an operation involving ICE, the FBI, Diplomatic Security and other agencies.
Over 370 arrests were made, with more than 200 of these individuals having charges and or convictions against them for serious crimes like murder, drug trafficking, rape, assault of minors, firearms trafficking, and membership in criminal organizations, according to the FBI. Others were wanted for crimes like money laundering. Money laundering happens when someone acquires money illegally and they try to hide it/transfer it somewhere else.
The operation also got the Diplomatic Security department a visit from President Trump’s border expert, Tom Homan, who stated that he aimed to make Boston safer by trying to remove dangerous offenders from high crime areas.
“These officers and agents made the neighborhoods of Boston and Massachusetts much safer. They risked their own safety by arresting these criminals on the street, rather than in jail. Governor Healy and Mayor Wu should be ashamed of supporting sanctuary policies.” Homan added.
Boston Mayor Michelle Wu responded by telling reporters, “We want to be sure to say Boston is welcoming and safe for everyone.”
Governor Healy was publicly denounced by Homan “fixation” on her fixation on public safety in boston.
Governor Healy also responded by saying she “(doesn’t) know what the fixation is, to be quite honest. We’re in a very safe state.”
