After the reveal of Danvers’ top three town manager finalists, one of the candidates, Patrice Garvin, has pulled out of the running.
Danvers Selectboard Chairman, Dan Bennett, has explained the reasoning for Garvin’s dropout, which the Belmont Select Board revealed as a pay raise of nearly $8,500. With her previous contract, Garvin’s base salary was $220,964, and with this new contract, she will now receive $229,500.
This opportunity was not surprising to Danvers Selectboard members, including Dan Bennett, as he stated to The Salem News, “That’s why we picked three finalists.”
Because Danvers is a town and not a city (like Beverly), the government structure is made up of an elected board of selectmen and a Town Manager. The Town Manager has many responsibilities including overseeing financing, investments, and giving the selectman advice on budgeting for things like schools or other town needs.
Finalists, Jill Cahill of Gloucester, and Sean Fitzgerald of Swampscott will be interviewed on the 12th of March, followed by a decision through the Danvers Selectboard, made on the night of March 18th.
Interviews will be broadcasted on DCAT, following the completion of both.
