The Danvers hockey team had a great season, which ended last Saturday night with an unfortunate loss to Nauset High.
In the Sweet 16 (the top 16 remaining teams in the league), Nausset was undefeated with a 20-0-1 record. The boys traveled down to the Cape and lost 9-0, putting an end to an amazing season.
Senior captain Josh Henry said, “This team is a tight group of guys, we’ve become a family over the season.”
The Falcons started off the postseason by winning in a battle 4-3 over Nashoba Regional High School. This game was electrifying. Goalie sophomore Cody Standring had many impressive saves while sophomore Keegan Crowley scored his first varsity goal. The rink and student section was buzzing during their last home game of the year.
Overall, the year was great for the Falcons. They ended the regular season on a two-game winning streak and finished the year by winning the Newburyport Bank Ice Hockey Classic Tournament. Their final record was 7-12-2.
Although some of the team’s current stars will be graduating, there will still be high expectations for next year’s team.
