Famed rapper Sean Carter, also known as Jay Z., is facing a recent lawsuit for allegedly raping a thirteen year old girl in 2000.
The anonymous accuser claims she was trying to get into the 2000’s VMA awards, hosted at Radio City Music Hall. She had been attempting to board limousines that were present bringing legitimate celebrities inside the venue. During this time, a limousine driver working for rapper Sean Combs (also known as P. Diddy) pulled up to her and invited her to Diddy’s afterparty, stating that the younger woman “fit what Diddy was looking for.”
She was then driven to an MTV video music afterparty, and claims she was made to sign a non-disclosure agreement upon arrival, and given a drink, which she now believes was spiked. Diddy later approached the woman with a “crazed look in his eyes” and told her “You are ready to party!” after which she was taken to a room and thrown against the wall, then thrown on a bed and raped by both Combs and Carter, according to her suit. As of this time, the woman remains unnamed.
Carter had much to say in response to the allegations, stating that as a “young man who made it out of the projects of Brooklyn, we don’t play those types of games. We protect children, [while] you seem to exploit people for personal gain.”
Carter also said the main problem with this lawsuit would be about the loss of innocence his children would experience as a result of this. While this came directly from Carter, his lawyers also released a statement that the claims were false, unfounded accusations.
One interesting fact about the timeline of this case is that the assault allegedly took place in 2000, the same year that Carter and Beyoncé met each other. And while this doesn’t conclusively say anything, it’s not a good look for either of them, as it indirectly touches upon Beyoncé, and it reflects poorly on Carter. This is because by the next year when the two officially started dating, Beyonce was only eighteen, while Carter was thirty.
This case also joins the increasing pile of lawsuits regarding sexual misconduct, be it assault, trafficking, or any number of other offenses leveled upon Diddy.
