Danvers has finally signed a deal for a new town manager, with finalist Jill Cahill. On May 12th, with the help and support of Acting Town Manager Rodney Conley, Cahill will begin work in her new position.
Cahill will be assuming the position after most recently serving as Gloucester’s Chief Administrative Officer. She has held this position for the past three years.
A town manager ensures an efficient town government by providing leadership and oversight to town departments. They appoint department heads, handle the annual budget, enforce all laws and town ordinances, and coordinate the work of town employees and volunteers.
Select Board Chair Dan Bennett, after the public interview for the finalists of the position, made an observation about Cahill.
“Drawing from some of the comments from Gloucester residents, she has the faith and respect of everyone who works for the city…” Bennett added, “She does a great job of balancing interests, listening to people and trying to build bridges.”
