From April 7th to 12th, the Danvers High School music program travelled to Orlando, Florida to work at Disney’s Imagination Campus. The students created music and memories that will last a lifetime as they enjoyed their days in the workshops and at the Disney parks.
Disney’s Imagination Campus offers student enrichment programs and educational workshops across a range of performing arts and academic subjects. Both the band and the chorus of DHS were given the chance to hone their craft by learning from seasoned Disney professionals. Students were given valuable insight about what it’s like to work in the professional world of music, and about what it’s like to work in entertainment at Disney. It was a unique opportunity for DHS music students, and many magical memories were made during these workshops.
Students were also able to enjoy one day at each of the Disney World parks: Epcot, Hollywood Studios, Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom. They had lots of fun on thrilling rides like Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind, The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror, TRON Lightcycle/Run, and Expedition Everest – Legend of the Forbidden Mountain. They were also lucky enough to see some of the amazing shows that Disney World offers, such as Luminous: The Symphony of Us at Epcot, Fantasmic! at Hollywood studios, and Happily Ever After at Magic Kingdom.
“The Imagination Campus at Disney is truly a visionary learning experience,” said senior Alejandro Bourdier, one of the drum majors for the DHS marching band. “The band got to spend two and a half hours with a master musician, learning and recording songs after only a few runs and experiencing how professionals make and produce music for Disney.”
Senior Dailin Martinez-Rodriguez, the president of Falconize (one of the a cappella groups at DHS), also talked to The Flying Onion about her experience.
“The Imagination Campus at Disney was a really interesting and amusing opportunity to step into the world of voice acting,” she commented. “As a chorus, we were expected to learn classic works from Beauty and the Beast and work collaboratively to complete our own unique musical work of art.”
It’s safe to say that these musical students will never forget the amazing time they had on their 2026 Walt Disney World trip.
