Mike Minogue is a new Republican nominee for governor, looking to fix the state’s problem of job opportunities and housing.
Minogue is known here in Danvers, where he was once the chief executive of the Danvers-based heart pump maker Abiomed Inc.
Earlier this month, Mike Minogue flew over Boston in a helicopter, criticizing how commercial property values have plummeted in the downtown areas.
The Republican candidate for Massachusetts governor saw the lack of new construction and argued that billions of dollars being spent on converting office spaces into housing is not going to fix the city’s housing issue.
“All they’re doing is developing the next slum,” Mingoue argued in a video posted online.
Coming from a conservative businessman making his way into politics for the first time, Minogue’s comment was seen as “sharp-edged”, according to WBUR (Boston University Radio).
There is some speculation in the media about Minogue’s comment. The media has mixed reviews. While some are outraged, others are applauding his critique on the Democrats management of the city and state.
Minogue is very big on making things better, he said, and will “use my leadership to make decisions with common sense and compassion.”
In Minogue’s campaign for governor, he has used his former management of Abiomed as a blueprint for how he would govern the state.
He has also been trying to raise his profile by traveling around the state to speak in venues and frequently posting videos on social media.
In Minogue’s latest interview with WBUR, he stated that Democratic dominance is “hurting young people who can’t afford to stay. It’s hurting seniors who don’t think they can retire.”
“You only do what’s right, and you lead with honor and integrity,” he said.
Minogue and others believe that with his skills, he can help millions of people in Massachusetts.
