DHS’ girls basketball team is hot, with a winning streak of sixteen straight games, after they clinched the NEC title against Revere over February break.
In what has been a historic and successful season, the Falcons closed out the regular season with an outstanding 19-1 overall record while remaining undefeated in the Northeastern Conference at 13-0.
The Falcons took down the Revere Patriots with a 50-36 win on Tuesday, February 17th. Senior captain Angie Djoko led the team with an outstanding double-double (when a player makes double digits in two stats), finishing with 18 points and 12 rebounds.
After reflecting on the game, Djoko said, “We have made it so far as a team, going from 5-15 my freshman year to now 19-1 feels so rewarding and just shows how hard work pays off.”
In addition to the NEC title, the girls also set a new program record for the most wins in a single season in DHS girls basketball history, making this year truly one to remember. The last team to hold the record was the 2018 girls basketball team, coached by Pat Veilleux who went 16-6.
The girls played again on Friday, February 27th in Mansfield for their Round of 32 tournament game. They ended up losing in a heartbreak of a game with the final score of 51-48.
Congratulations to an amazing season for the girls basketball team.
