For this week’s senior spotlight, we have Addie Lamar! Addie is a 3-sport athlete and is very involved in the Danvers High School Community. As her final year at DHS comes to an end, we’d like to share some of Addie’s hard work and dedication to our community.
To start off, Addie runs cross country and track and field, where she is a three-season captain for the girls’ teams. She was recognized early on in these sports when she received the Outstanding Newcomer award in 9th grade and was named an NEC All-Star in 10th grade. Beyond her breaking personal records, Addie has also dedicated herself to mentoring younger athletes, earning the Coaches’ Award during her junior year.
Addie’s leadership extends far beyond her athletics. In our community, she serves as the Social Media Manager for the Student Council and the Vice President of Competition for Danvers DECA. Her academic excellence is equally impressive, as a member of the National Honors Society and the National English Honors Society, where she serves as Vice President.
Her English teacher of two years, Mr. John White, expressed, “Addie has left her mark at Danvers High School. I have had the good fortune of having her in class both her sophomore and senior years. She is an intelligent young woman who works hard to meet the high standards she sets for herself.”
“A lot of times, you get out of something what you put in, and I’d say Addie has made the most of her time here,” Mr. White added. “Next year, we will miss her contagious smile and positive energy.”
A close friend of hers, senior Josie Vogel says, “Addie is one of the sweetest people I’ve ever met. She’s so hard working, smart, kind and honest and I’m so lucky to call her one of my best friends.”
Her commitment to service is where she shines brightest. Addie is a board member for Griffin’s Gift, a non-profit helping families with adoption sponsorships, and she volunteers as a Special Kickers Buddy, teaching soccer to children with special needs. In addition she worked with the Danvers Historical Society to educate third graders on local history while also training other volunteers.
Whether she is presenting local history to third graders at the Danvers Historical Society or refereeing grassroots soccer games, Addie consistently shows up for her community.
As Addie’s high school career comes to an end, she plans to go to Emmanuel College in the fall on the pre-med track, in order to eventually become a pediatrician. With such an incredible track record of leadership and service, we can’t wait to see what she accomplishes next. Congratulations, Addie!
