The Flying Onion staff is excited to shine light on this year’s Co Editor-in-Chief of our online edition: Autumn Buckley!
Over the course of the past three years, Autumn has written a multitude of diverse articles, fully encapsulating her immense strength as a writer. In her sophomore year, Autumn wrote her first article, “Developing a better Danvers”, and since then she has dived into reporting essential topics, as seen in her articles on Epstein and Charlie Kirk. On top of this, Autumn’s journalistic talents have extended into reviews and opinion pieces such as the best local chicken places and using AI in school.
Outside of journalism, Autumn is highly engaged in athletics here at Danvers High. She is the girls varsity volleyball captain and has played on the team all four years of high school, winning the highly anticipated Coaches’ Award in her junior year. In addition, Autumn was a pitcher on the girls’ varsity softball team for three years of high school, and has impressively pitched multiple no-hitter games.
Aside from her athleticism, Autumn also is an outstanding student, landing herself a spot in the top 10% of the class, and serving as a member of the National Honor Society and the National English Honor Society. Moreover, Autumn’s literacy in both English and French languages has made her a member of the World Language Honor Society.
Furthermore, Autumn is no stranger when it comes to giving back to the DHS community. She’s the Co-President of SADD (Students Against Destructive Decisions) and has been involved in Student Council, Tomorrow’s Teachers, and Nexgen throughout her high school career.
This spring, Autumn interned at the Boy’s and Girl’s Club in Stoneham where she helped with kids’ after-school activities.
Moving forward, Autumn is planning to advance her journalistic career by majoring in journalism at Fordham University in New York City. Autumn has grown into being an extraordinary writer throughout high school, and we here at The Flying Onion can’t wait to see where her talent and determination will take her in the future.
