Summer of 2026 will bring with it a total of eleven new movies to theaters, including Spider-Man: Brand New Day, Supergirl, Mortal Kombat II, Scary Movie 6, Toy Story 5, Live-Action Moana, Minions & Monsters, Enola Homes 3, Disclose Day, Masters of the Universe, and Coyote vs ACME.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day is the follow up from the previous Spider-Man: No Way Home, and takes place four years later, since the memory-swipe of Peter Parker. It’s about Peter Parker’s new life in New York City living by himself while no one knows who he is. The movie is set to be released on July 31st.
Another popular movie that will be trending this summer is Toy Story 5, coming out June 19th. Toy Story 5 will center around what it’s like to be a toy when there are so many digital screens now. Back when all the other Toy Story movies got released, screens weren’t as much of an issue, but as technology keeps progressing, toys aren’t being used as much and are being forgotten.
The next movie is Supergirl, which is in the same universe as Superman but follows protagonist Kara, who spent her teenage years on the planet Krypton (Superman’s original home). Kara has trauma from her parents’ deaths and wants to get back at those who killed them. This will be out in theaters June 26th.
The reboot of Scary Movie 6 has already kicked off the summer, as it was released in theaters June 5th. The original cast all returned for the movie, after a 25-year absence from the franchise. This movie takes an aim at the endless cycles of the “legacy sequels” and elevated horror.
Lastly, Enola Holmes 3, which is supposed to make its release on July 6th. This movie adds onto the Enola Holmes series, with the title character a brilliant Victorian-era detective, and sister to Sherlock Holmes. Her wedding gets thrown into a chaos when it’s discovered that Sherlock has gone missing, which forces Enola to balance between her new romance and a rescue mission.
Overall, there are many options for spending time in the theaters this summer, so grab some popcorn and enjoy!
