The residents in Southern California are deeply affected by the deadly storm that occurred over the weekend and is ongoing throughout Monday, February 5th 2024.
This deadly powerful storm that happened over the weekend has drenched parts of California leaving roads and buildings flooded along with more than a hundred mudslides. CNN states that it has been a year’s worth of rain for some cities in only two days. Cars have been flooded, and many people and animals were left stranded. Roads have been left with trash and trees all over due to the heavy weather conditions. Weather reports say that the rain and storm will continue on Tuesday most likely causing more flooding.
Throughout the week of February 5th things have gotten worse. There are now about 475 mudslides and about two dozen buildings that have been damaged in Los Angeles, California.
Over the weekend, this storm caused 390 falling trees which led two people to lose their lives. Now, Wednesday February seventh, people have reported that this storm has caused seven more people to lose their lives.
Due to the gusty winds from the storm at least four of the nine people died from falling trees. These gusty winds have also knocked down power lines causing thousands of people to lose power.
According to poweroutage.us, seventy thousand people on Wednesday morning woke up with no power. CNN had a resident of Studio City report that all the violent mudslides had left his neighbors shaken. This resident Scott Toro also reported to CNN saying “Everybody seems to be OK, I mean, I think we’re all just mentally shaken, but we’re physically, we’re all okay,” Later on Scott also added “We’ve been here for twenty one years and we’ve never seen anything (like this).”
