This school year, students may recognize a familiar face in our gym and fitness classes. After twelve years of teaching at Holten Richmond Middle School, Mr. Devin Anno makes his way to Danvers High as our new gym teacher.
Although many students know Mr. Anno from their middle school gym years, he wasn’t always in education. Before becoming a gym teacher, Mr. Anno worked at a computer sales company, in sales. He quickly realized that it wasn’t the right fit for him and he wanted to be involved in a job where he could help students with their fitness and movement.
Since his arrival here at DHS, Mr. Anno has enjoyed recognizing familiar faces of students he hasn’t seen in years. He’s been receiving a positive welcome from us Falcons and has been running fun gym classes that involve all students.
Moving to the high school has brought new opportunities for Mr. Anno. He is especially excited to teach in our weight room, having the chance to work with an older age group of students, and having the chance to teach strength and conditioning classes. Mr. Anno’s goal is to try and encourage every student to be involved in different activities, and push themselves to come out of their individual comfort zones.
Mr. Anno wanted to share some advice with the students of DHS.
“Always get better,” he said. “Everyday you always get better, never stay the same. You always improve, you always move forward.”
We look forward to showing Mr. Anno how great our high school experience can really be, and we are excited to welcome him to our school. We students were especially happy to have him back as a teacher.
