The annual Grammys celebration returned February 1st, with several notable performances, winners, nominations, and speeches.
This year’s Grammy’s were filled to the brim with new talents, such as Lola Young and Addison Rae, alongside the likes of A-list celebrities such as Justin Bieber, Lady Gaga, Kendrick Lamar, Tyler the Creator, and more.
There were several stand-out achievements from last night’s grammys. Firstly, Bad Bunny received album of the year, which marked the first occasion in which an album sung entirely in Spanish won this award. In addition, Kendrick Llamar won best record for his song Luther, which now makes him the most awarded rapper of all time. Not to mention,”Golden”, by K-Pop Demon Hunters, took home the first ever Ggrammy for K-Pop, as the best song written for visual media.
Other than those notable first-time accomplishments, Billie Eillish took home song of the year, (for her song “Wildflower”) and Olivia Dean received the Best New Artist Award.
However, the stand out event of the night had to be Bad Bunny’s acceptance speech, in which he boldly declared “Before I say thanks to God, I’m going to say ICE out.” Bad Bunny continued by saying,“We’re not savage. We’re not animals. We’re not aliens. We are humans, and we are Americans.”
Bad Bunny was also “tricked” into singing a little bit of one of his songs through a bit with host Trevor Noah. Because Mr. Bunny is performing at this week’s SuperBowl halftime show, he was contractually prevented from performing at the Grammy’s.
