The U.K.’s King Charles and Queen Camilla visited the U.S. from April 27th and concluded their visit on Thursday, April 30th. Their visit was hosted by President Trump as an official visit. King Charles and Queen Camilla went to both New York and Washington D.C., where King Charles communicated an address to Congress.
This official visit was planned to celebrate the 250th anniversary of American independence. The royals wanted to show appreciation for the long-lasting connection between America and the U.K. According to Buckingham Palace, the visit was an opportunity to reminisce on the shared history between both countries.
The planning of their trip happened previous to the current conflict of the launching of war on Iran by the United States and Israel. Although this most recent conflict did create tension between the U.S. and the U.K., Trump insisted the visit could potentially decrease the tension.
A recent shooting during the White House press dinner brought up concerns for both the king and queen’s safety during their visit. However, the Sunday before their travels, the palace decided to continue the visit with their original agenda. The king and queen expressed their gratuity and excitement for their visit.
Before King Charles and Queen Camilla’s visit, the press questioned President Trump as to how the royals could help assist the U.S. in repairing both countries’ relationship. President Trump responded, “Absolutely. He’s fantastic. He’s a fantastic man. Absolutely the answer is yes.”
President Trump also continued to express his appreciation for the British royal family and his relationship with King Charles. President Trump adores King Charles and thinks of him highly. President Trump visited the U.K. this past September, hosted by King Charles, where he attended a luxurious banquet at Windsor Castle.
