Last weekend, Danvers Falcons’ high school musical group, Falconize, won the Northeast ICHSA Quarterfinals, hosted here at DHS. Competing against many high school choruses from all over the North Shore, students worked hard to perfect these songs as well the choreography.
Starting in September, they begin their practicing process by selecting songs, and arranging them. Musical students put in a tremendous amount of energy and time to complete the complex process of putting the songs together. There were two outstanding individual performances: “Hunger” by Florence and the Machine, sung by Brooke Wilichoski, followed by “More by Lawrence”, performed by Dailin Martinez. The group also performed “Happiness” by the Fray, which caught the judges’ attention. The nature of the song and group performance was incredible. All of their hardwork and dedication has shown in their performances.
DHS’ Chorus Director, Mr. Alex Grover, stated “Falconize looks forward to refining its set of songs for semifinals and specifically working on more dynamic contrast and adding some new choreography.”
Along with their success on Saturday, Falconize also performed Sunday, at Wakefield High School, at one of the other quarter finals for the judges’ deliberations. They performed ten of their songs in front of an audience of almost 700 people before the awards ceremony. Falconize put tremendous effort into these performances. We’re excited to see Falconize move onto the semifinals in late March which will be held in Worcester.
