Senior Kyla Patuto has always been an integral student in the DHS class of ’26 due to her unrelenting kindness, irrefutable intelligence, and quick-witted humor, so we are proud to announce that she will be the next senior featured in our Senior Spotlight column.
Kyla is exceedingly involved in the extracurriculars offered at Danvers High School. She is on the Danvers Cares executive board, and within Danvers Cares she is also a selective peer mentor for middle schoolers. As a selective peer mentor, Kyla works with middle school leaders to help them further develop their leadership and flexible-thinking skills. Kyla also serves as the treasurer for the mock trial club at DHS, a club she has been doing since her freshman year, and as a co-captain for the DHS math team.
She also participates in Tomorrow’s Teachers, a club at DHS that takes high school students to the elementary schools of Danvers and provides them with experience in working with children. Kyla is a member of SADD (Students Against Destructive Decisions), and she’s on the yearbook committee. She has been involved in indoor and outdoor track for three years of high school, with hurtles as her main event.
She’s also a member of the National Honor Society and the National English Honor Society.
Outside school, Kyla works part-time at Miss Nancy’s Parties and Programs, a children’s event planning company based in Danvers. For 16 years, Kyla has danced, most recently, competitively, her rehearsals taking up twelve hours a week.
Kyla’s dedication to every activity she participates in speaks for itself, but she also impacts the community with her radiant personality.
DHS English teacher Ms. Annie Grover spoke about having Kyla in class.
“Kyla is one of the bright lights in both our community block and AP lit class,” said Ms. Grover. “I seriously love her so much.”
DHS senior Natalie Bahret, one of Kyla’s closest friends, talked about Kyla as a peer.
“Kyla is so thoughtful and hardworking, and she always considers how others feel.”
Looking ahead to next year, Kyla has been looking at colleges in New England, especially schools in Boston. She is mostly thinking about going into health professions, such as biology and health sciences.
As such a positive influence in the Danvers High School community, Kyla is sure to go on to improve innumerable lives after she graduates.
