Here at DHS, our students and staff continue to go above and beyond in academics, athletics, and arts. Every day, the DHS community works hard to achieve new goals, earning recognition both inside and outside of the classroom. The Flying Onion would like to recognize some of the recent accomplishments being achieved.
Starting off, last Monday students senior Ava Patch and sophomore Lucy Osborne were honored at the school committee meeting, receiving catalyst awards from SEPAC (Special Education Parent Advisory Council) for their dedication and positive impact within our school. Alongside them, special education teacher Mr. Josh Jordan received the Keystone award for his outstanding efforts in supporting our students.
Additionally, last Thursday evening, DHS’ top nine ranked senior students were recognized at the North Shore Scholar dinner. Kailey Allen, Natalie Bahret, Lily Delafano, Claudia Drakos, Lila Doucette, GianLuca Locilento, Riley McGovern (salutatorian), Anish Patel (essayist), and Josie Vogel (valedictorian) were honored for their incredible academic excellence.
DHS student-athletes had also continued to shine both on and off the field. Congratulations to seniors Lily Delafano and Ben Wilhelm for being recognized as NEC scholar athletes at the Ferncroft. In addition, seniors Addi McCarty and Jack Chronis were nominated for the prestigious Boston Globe 2026 Foundation/Richard J. Phelps Scholar-Athlete award.
Lastly, many of our drama students attended the prestigious Jimmy’s in Boston last Friday. Jimmy’s is a special invitation that gets sent out to the top drama students across the commonwealth, giving them an opportunity to move to national competition. We want to congratulate the students who represented our school at this event: juniors Hope Panagoulias, and Brooke Wilichowski, as well as seniors Piper Brett, and Dailin Martinez who have all shown incredible talent during their time on the DHS stage.
Overall, these accomplishments highlight the leadership and hard work that is being brought by our students and staff each and every day at DHS. From athletic achievements and arts recognition, to academic excellence, our community continues to make a positive impact both inside and outside the classroom. Congratulations to everyone!
