The north shore is known for many good beaches, although there are some that stand out from the rest. After an informal classroom poll, we found that Gloucester’s Good Harbor, Wingaersheek, Salisbury’s town beach and Singing Beach in Manchester-by-the-Sea are considered some of the best beaches in the north shore.
Good Harbor beach is very popular with many people, usually young adults and small families. This beach allows for reservations up to ten days in advance for non residents with a fee of $40 on the weekday and $45 on the weekend. Although this is a lot of money for getting into a beach, this beach is very convenient for deciding to go day of and they have free parking after 5pm
Gloucester is Wingaersheek beach. This beach is a very family friendly beach and is very popular for students to take senior photos because of the rock formations that are set all around the beach. There is an onsite concession stand and little shop that make it easy to buy a sweet treat during your beach day or anything you could have forgotten like flip flops or sunscreen.
Next is Salisbury beach in Salisbury. This beach is very popular during the summer because along with the beach it has lots of little shops and food places all around it that also serve as more things to do when you go to Salisbury before or after the beach.
The final beach is the Singing beach in Manchester by the Sea. This beach is very popular because of the coastal type town it is in but it does get very busy during the summer. The fee for non-residents is 35 dollars and the walk-on fee is only 10 dollars. This beach does also have the ability to be accessed by train which is very helpful for people who do not want to pay the parking fee.
