For our first featured senior of the year, we are pleased to announce that Ben Wilhelm is our Senior Spotlight. As he starts his last year of high school, we’d like to note the remarkable effort Ben has put in throughout all his time at DHS this far.
To begin, Ben’s level of involvement at DHS is what makes him a dedicated Falcon! Ben takes part in a variety of extracurriculars at our school, including cross country, track, \and serving as an officer of DECA and NexGen. His excellence doesn’t just stop here; Ben’s outstanding academic performance has made him a member of three DHS honor societies: National Honor Society, English National Honor Society, and World Language National Honor Society.
Ben has been involved in DECA since freshman year, where he currently serves as Vice President of Publicity and Alumni Relations.
In addition, Ben has also had great experiences being involved in our school’s cross country and track teams. This year, Ben had the honor of being a captain on the Danvers track team. Track and cross country have had a big impact on Ben, allowing him to make very close friends.
Lastly, Ben is one of the officers of our club NexGen where he serves as secretary. In NexGen, Ben speaks on important issues to share and spread awareness., including an opportunity where he spoke in front of a crowd in honor of MLK Day.
His involvement in a wide variety of extracurriculars is not the only thing that makes Ben such an outstanding member of our school community. His unwavering kindness makes him stand out to everyone around him.
From friend and DECA partner, Lily Delafano, “He is a great student and a kind friend to everyone around him”.
“Everyone talks about how Ben’s the nicest person ever,” said friend and teammate, Ava Patch, “And during track he’s always trying his hardest; everyone knows it, even our coaches.”
Business and DECA teacher, Ms. Meghan Beaulieu, shared some thoughtful words with us on his contribution to our community.
“Ben continues to challenge himself and grow as a student and a leader in the DHS community,” said Ms. Beaulieu. “He inspires positivity and a sense of community for his classmates.”
With so much going on for Ben, he is also taking a look at currently beginning the process of applying for college. Ben plans to apply early to Georgetown University, in D.C. Ben’s goals for his college career is to pursue a major in government or pre-law.
