The Flying Onion is excited to announce this week’s “Senior Spotlight”, Evan Roach! Evan’s dedication to his goals, teams, and community is nothing short of inspiring.
To start off, it is important to note Evan’s exceptional lacrosse skills. Evan has been a varsity starter since his freshman year. His excellent sportsmanship has landed him not only a position as a lacrosse captain, but he also takes a role on the leadership council for lacrosse, and has won the Unsung Hero award. In fact, he recently committed to play lacrosse at Wentworth Institute of Technology next fall.
In the meantime, Evan has also won the Unsung Hero award for his work in lacrosse. The Unsung Hero award is a prestigious award presented to students with outstanding character that make selfless contributions to the school community, all traits that Evan perfectly embodies.
Evan also assumes leadership positions beyond lacrosse, as he serves as a community leader at DHS.
In addition to his leadership skills, Evan also has an admirable work ethic that sets him apart. Evan holds down two jobs as he spends his weekends working at Connors Farm and manages shifts at Lacrosse Unlimited during the week.
Furthermore, Evan is extremely technically skilled. He is familiar with hands-on technical work, since he took an electrical trade at Essex tech for his first two years of high school and was one of the only sophomores there to help in building the Tech’s new cottage.
Evan’s friend and lacrosse teammate Lincoln Smith shares “[Evan’s a] great player, greater guy. Evan is a great lacrosse player; anyone would be happy to share the field with him.”
Evan’s former teacher Mr. Bencal weighs in saying “Evan is a great student. He brings a positive attitude to class every day. I’ve also seen him as a community leader and he does an awesome job.”
Next year, Evan plans to major in mechanical engineering while at Wentworth. The Flying Onion wishes him the best for his future endeavors.
