After a long winter break, the Flying Onion is back and ready to jump into a new round of Senior Spotlights with this week’s featured senior…Molly Verhoosky!
To start off, Molly is involved in multiple sports here at DHS. She is currently the upcoming captain for the girls tennis team, and just finished her final season as goalie for the field hockey team.
“The field hockey team this year came together even more under new leadership,” Molly said. “It’s more than a team; I love all my girls so much”.
Molly is also involved in a wide range of clubs and honor societies. She currently serves as treasurer for the NEHS (National English Honor Society), President of Women of the World, an executive board member of Danvers Cares youth group, and is the community events ambassador for DECA.
She is also involved in SADD, our yearbook committee, Model UN, Mock Trial, and in both WLNHS (World Language National Honor Society) and NAHS (National Art Honor Society).
In addition, Molly takes many high-level courses, including AP Macro and AP Art.
English teacher Ms. Kristina Aste-Mayer talked about Molly as a student.
“Molly is a dynamic leader whose integrity and communication skills set her apart, and, no matter what, she always brings her authentic, true self to every venture. Her warmth enlightens every room that she enters,” Ms. Aste said. “She has really stepped up to the plate this year as treasurer for National English Honor Society and I am so grateful to have her as a student in Page to Stage, as a member of Mock Trial, and as an officer in NEHS.”
Both friend and teammate, senior Ava Patch, also spoke out about Molly.
“I’ve played field hockey with Molly for years and she’s so awesome to be around,” She says. “She’s actually the nicest person that I know and a great friend and teammate. She’s also my DECA partner and she’s such a hard worker and she’s so driven.”
With so much going on for her, Molly is committed to Endicott College and is looking forward to studying in their nursing program. Although many of us will miss her, we hope Molly has the best time at Endicott and we can’t wait to see what the future holds for her!
